Karen Chow has been writing since a good friend of hers received a how-to book about completing a novel in fifty-two weeks. Since then, she has discovered a love for writing young adult fiction and aspires to be a full-time writer. In her spare time, she concentrates on her many passions, including scrapbooking, knitting, and playing the harp. Karen lives with her husband in Arizona.

The longer bio:
Almost nine years ago, Karen was a sophomore at ASU and her good friend asked her if she was interested in writing. Her friend had received The Weekend Novelist (a book about writing a novel in one year) for her birthday and wanted a writing companion. Karen eagerly agreed and both of them began studying the exercises in the how-to book, through character sketches, describing setting, and developing plot. Though Karen's first novel was not too great, it sparked a passion within her that she didn't know was there. She suddenly found herself writing during her spare time, even writing during her classes (which sets a bad example for all you students, so ignore this part!!). She believes that this gift was God-given, to balance her technical studies with something creative.
When a church friend told her about National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), she thought it was such a cool concept and took up the challenge three consecutive years. It was during November 2008 that she write The Prophecy Box.
Though she is a full-time engineer and has her B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Karen is still a writer and editor at heart. She is a volunteer copy editor for the PrayforChina weekly newsletter and for Food for the Hungry's TD Conference website and workbook.
She whole-heartedly encourages any budding writers to sit down, open up a black page (or document), and write.
